There is no cost to list. Does listing on your database guarantee we will be chosen for a film shoot?
No, there is no guarantee that your location will ever be chosen but it does increase the chances of this opportunity arising. How do I go about listing our property with Queensland Film Locations?

One of our staff will visit your home or property and photograph both the interior and exterior. Our experienced staff will discuss what a film shoot involves and look at how accessible your home is for a film crew. What if I don't want the interior of my home photographed?
That is no problem. We will just list your home as Exterior only. I'm concerned about the privacy of my information and the photographs you will take.
Location information kept on record with Queensland Film Locations is in confidence and used solely for the purpose of assisting professional film-makers make creative and informed choices. Your details are not shared with anyone else until you have agreed that a film shoot will occur at your location. Only then will a Production Company or Agency be put in contact with you. What about damage or injury occurring on my property during a film shoot?
Production Companies are covered Public Liability Insurance - usually up to $10 million. When you agree to have a commercial or film shot at your location you will be required to sign a legal document called a Location Agreement. This agreement outlines your right to be compensated for damage and also outlines the Production Company's use of your property. Can I stay during the production of the film?
A lot of owners choose to stay and discreetly watch the making of a commercial or film. It can be exciting to see just how they are made. Children especially enjoy watching the crew. Larger projects like films may require you to be accommodated elsewhere. I don't own the home I'm in, I'm a tenant. Can I list with you?
Generally, no. Location fees should be paid to the owner of the property. In special circumstances, where the owner is a family member or close friend, an agreement can be drawn up as to who receives the location fee. Queensland Film locations prefers to list owners only. How much would I be paid if my property was used as a film location?
This amount is negotiable between the film company and the owner. The amount is dependant on the time spent at your location and on the budget of the Production Company. As a general rule, Brisbane companies pay around $1000 for a full day shoot (around 12 hours). The amount could be as small at $200 if a few still photos are all that is required. Free to list? Paid a fee? It sounds too good to be true.
Having your home or property used as a film location is a major event. The crew will turn up very early, your street and driveway will be used by a lot of vehicles. Film crews can have up to 40 people on them. When a film crew moves in they really do take over the location to make the shoot as successful as possible. Film crew are highly skilled and very aware that they are in your home. Locations are left just as they are found and great pains are taken to care for the surroundings. |
